Departmental Temporary Employment Grant Shapps To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families which companies were contracted by his Department and its predecessor for the provision of temporary staff in each of the last three years; how many temporary staff were employed by his Department in each such year; and what the monetary value was of contracts with each such company in each such year. Ms Diana R. Johnson The Department was created on 28 June 2007. The Department has used three agencies for the provision of its temporary staff (admin and clerical)—Adecco, Reed Employment and Hays Office Support. The contract with Adecco expired on 31 August 2007, when new contracts were established with Reed and Hays. The number of temporary staff employed by the Department is as follows: --------------------------------- | |Number| --------------------------------- |July to December 2007 |98 | --------------------------------- |January to December 2008|207 | --------------------------------- |January to December 2009|130 | --------------------------------- We are unable to provide the monetary value of the contracts as this is commercial in confidence. For a small number of specialist temporary staff and interim managers the Department has used other agencies but information on this could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
