To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families how many and what proportion of children achieved the national standard in each of the 13 assessment scales of the Foundation Stage Profile assessments in (a) England and (b) each London borough in each year since the inception of those assessments.

[holding reply 6 April 2010]: Children who achieve six points or more are deemed to be working securely within the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. The percentage of children working securely in each of the 13 assessment scales has been published in an annual Statistical First Release since 2005.

The information available for 2007 to 2009 can be found in the “Six plus” columns of table A in the additional local authority and Government office region tables of the following Statistical First Releases:

Please note that care should be taken when comparing 2005 and 2006 figures between local authorities, as the assessments were not yet well established which may have caused inconsistencies in moderation.
