Written Answers Written Answers Channel Tunnel Report LORD DAVIES OF LEEK asked Her Majesty's Government:When the full report of the Channel Tunnel Group will be available to the public and Parliament, and whether the Government will undertake not to pay out any more sums of money for the Tunnel Project until a full study of the alternative Channel Link, namely a bridge, has been investigated, without prejudice. THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT (LORD SANDFORD) The results of the present studies will be available some time next year before a decision is taken whether to proceed to construction. I cannot give the undertaking for which the noble Lord asks. The subject of the studies which the Government have now agreed to complete is a rail tunnel. Gibraltar Dockyard LORD MERRIVALE asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether any decision has yet been reached on maintaining a continuous workload at Gibraltar Dockyard. LORD CARRINGTON It has been decided that the Rothesay Class frigate, H.M.S. "Lowestoft", will refit in Gibraltar Dockyard beginning in April, 1973, and that, on present plans, this will be succeeded by refits of other Rothesay Class frigates.House adjourned at twenty-three minutes past eight o'clock.
