Banks Report (Computer Programmes)

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what action he now proposes following the publication of the Banks Report on the patenting of computer programmes.

The Government is at present considering the recommendations of the Banks Committee and the representations which we have received on the Report and I expect to make an  announcement on the Report as a whole before very long.
