Unemployment Statistics Mr. Worthington To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people were unemployed in Scotland in December of every year since 1979 (a) using the current system of calculating unemployment and (b) using the system of calculating unemployment current in 1979. Mr. Allan Stewart The Department of Employment publishes seasonally adjusted estimates of the number unemployed in Scotland monthly on a basis consistent with the current system of calculating unemployment. Estimates for December of each year since 1979 are available from the NOMIS database in the House of Commons Library.
