Mortality Statistics Mr. Meacher asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the number of actual deaths in each week from 1 January to 31 March each year since 1979, what was the expected number of deaths for each of those weeks based on historical experience, and what was the percentage difference between the two. Mrs. Currie [pursuant to her replies, 21 January 1987, c. 623 and 25 February 1987, c. 328–30]: The calculations on the expected number of weekly deaths at age one year and over for the years 1979 to 1982 have been completed, and the figures are shown in the tables.
