Government Contracts

asked the Prime Minister whether the Report has been published of the Committee, presided over by Mr. Percy Alden in 1914, which examined the question of the distribution of Government contracts to equalise the burden of unemployment; and, if not, whether it is proposed to publish the Report?

Mr. BALDWIN
The Committee which was appointed on 8th May, 1914, had not arrived at the stage of taking evidence before the outbreak of War, when it adjourned sine die without making any Report.
