Railway Links (London) Mr. Hanley To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimates his Department has made as to the approximate cost of constructing (a) new cross-London railway links and (b) new underground railway links in London, at 1990 prices. Mr. Freeman The east-west crossrail and Chelsea to Hackney line proposed by the central London rail study would respectively cost about £1·4 billion and £1·8 billion to build at today's prices. The Jubilee line extension will cost over £1 billion at today's prices. No other proposals for new cross-London or underground links have been submitted to the Department.
