asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the home output of spectacle lenses in the year 1948 and the estimated output for 1949.

I have been asked to reply. The total output reported by the  mass manufacturers for 1948 was 6,346,246 pairs and the estimated output for 1949 is 7,700,000 pairs.
