asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the deficit in non-oil visible trade for the first quarter of 1985.

Non-oil visible trade showed a deficit of £3·2 billion in the first quarter of this year. At the same time, the current account as a whole was broadly in balance despite the effects of the coal dispute.
