First Schedule—(Supplementary Provisions As To Television Advertisement Duty) Mr. Barber I beg to move, in page 30, line 20, to leave out "fifteen" and to insert "twenty-five". Mr. Speaker I think that it would be convenient to take also the next Amendment in line 21, to leave out "fifteen" and to insert "twenty-five". Mr. Barber The House will remember that the First Schedule provides that the duty in respect of advertisements broadcast in any month after the passing of the Bill is to be payable by the pro- gramme contractor to the Crown within 15 days of the end of that month. The Amendments substitute a period of 25 days. They are intended to meet the point raised by my hon. Friends the Member for Crosby (Mr. Graham Page) and the Member for Perth and East Perthshire (Mr. MacArthur) in Committee. When they raised the matter I promised to consider it and I hope that the extension from 15 to 25 days will meet the point which they then made. Mr. Graham Page (Crosby) I thank my hon. Friend for the Amendments. They recognise normal commercial practice and I am sure that the Schedule will work much more smoothly with 25 instead of 15 days. Amendment agreed to. Further Amendment made: In page 30, line 21, leave out "fifteen" and insert "twenty-five".—[ Mr. Barber.]
