Mr. Mudd asked the Minister of State for Defence what was the total sum paid by the Ministry of Defence Claims Commission for damage attributable to supersonic service flying over the United Kingdom during the period 1st April, 1969 to 31st March, 1970. Mr. Lambton £242, plus £172 in respect of Ministry of Technology aircraft. Mr. Mudd asked the Minister of State for Defence how many payments were made by the Ministry of Defence Claims Commission in respect of accepted claims attributable to supersonic service flying over the United Kingdom during the period 1st April, 1969 to 31st March, 1970. Mr. Lambton Fourteen, plus eight in respect of Ministry of Technology aircraft. Mr. Mudd asked the Minister of State for Defence what was the total sum claimed by United Kingdom residents in respect of alleged damage caused by supersonic service flying during the period 1st April, 1969 to 31st March, 1970. Mr. Lambton About £1,000 plus about £250 in respect of Ministry of Technology aircraft. I cannot give a more precise answer because in some cases liability for a claim is repudiated before any value is mentioned.
