Obscenity (Prosecutions) Sir B. Rhys Williams asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions there have been in the London metropolitan area in each of the last three years under Section 3 of the Obscene Publications Act, and how many convictions resulted. Mr. John Section 2 of the Obscene Publications Act 1959, as amended, creates the offences of publishing an obscene article and having an obscene article for publication for gain. Section 3 provides a procedure for the seizure and forfeiture of obscene articles: proceedings under this section do not involve criminal proceedings against offenders. Details of proceedings under both sections of the Act in the Metropolitan Police District in the last three years are as follows. Some cases involve proceedings under both sections and have been counted twice.---------- | | | | ---------- |1974|…|…| ---------- |1975|…|…| ---------- |1976|…|…| ---------- | | | | ---------- |1974|…|…| ---------- |1975|…|…| ---------- |1976|…|…| ----------
