asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to improve the shore side infrastructure of the fishing industry.

Responsibility for harbour infrastructure rests with individual harbour authorities. However grants towards harbour improvements, of benefit to the fishing industry, are available under the provisions of section 2 of the Fisheries Act 1955.Community assistance is also available for marketing and processing in the fisheries sector and for improved port facilities under Regulations EC/355/77 and EC/ 4028/86 respectively.
