Remand Home Facilities (North Staffordshire)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether  additional remand home facilities will be made available in North Staffordshire.

Mr. Carlisle
The provision of remand homes is a matter for local authorities, and I am not aware of any current proposals for additional remand facilities in North Staffordshire. This will be a matter for consideration in connection with the regional plan which the children's regional planning committee is required to prepare under section 36 of the Children and Young Persons Act, 1969.
