Conservation Areas (Demolition)

Mr. Cyril Smith
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many applications he has received from London borough authorities and the GLC to demolish properties in conservation areas in London; which are the affected conservation areas; how many properties it is proposed to demolish in each; which application would involve the demolition of the greatest proportion of the conservation area concerned; and how many objections he has received to each of these applications.

Since the Town and Country Amenities Act 1974 came into operation in September 1974, eight applications have been made by the London  borough councils and the Greater London Council for consent to demolish 78 buildings which are unlisted but situated within designated conservation areas.
