Forestry Commission Mr. Brotherton asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what has been the total subsidy to the Forestry Commission over the last 10 years. Mr. Wiggin The total grant-in-aid drawn into the forestry fund from the Exchequer between 1 April 1969 and 31 March 1979, the latest date for which figures are available, was £2004 million. Of this amount £151·7 million was allocated to the Forestry Enterprise, which manages the commission's woodlands, and £48·7 million to the Forestry Authority covering grants to private woodland owners, the administration of grant schemes, felling licensing and plant health, and a proportion of the commission's expenditure on research and development.
