National Anti-Waste Unit

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) what was the staff establishment for the national anti-waste unit for the years 1978–79 and 1979–80; and what changes are proposed for 1980–81 and future years;(2) what was the expenditure on and by the national anti-waste unit during the financial years 1978–79 and 1979–80; and what is the estimate for future years.

The staff establishment for 1978–79 was nine and for 1979–80 10. Future staffing of the unit is under review. Expenditure, including staff costs and publicity, was £139,000 for 1978–79, and £117,000 for 1979–80. The estimate for 1980–81, which is subject to review, is £188,000.
