asked the Secretary of State for Employment what redundancies have been notified to him in connection with the winding down of the city of Birmingham construction department.

We understand that Birmingham City Council has decided to run down its construction unit which will result in the loss of 435 jobs over the  next 12 months; the workers will be redeployed if possible. No notification under Section 100 of the Employment Protection Act 1975 has yet been received.
