asked the Minister of Transport what contribution the work of the Transport and Road Research Lab oratory has made to the design safety of motor cycles in the last five years.

The laboratory has a continuing programme of study and development of safety features for motor cycles and mopeds. This work has made a major contribution to the development of more effective braking systems and methods of rider protection. It has also demonstrated the vital importance of conspicuity in preventing accidents.
