Nuclear Reactors Dr. David Owen asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list all the existing regulations which relate to the siting of a proposed nuclear reactor. Sir J. Eden There are no statutory regulations. The policy governing the siting of nuclear power stations remains that announced by the then Minister of Power in a statement on 6th February, 1968. Dr. David Owen asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry by what authority he has refused to site a nuclear reactor at Millbrook. Sir J. Eden No formal application was made by the C.E.G.B. to site a nuclear power station at Millbrook, but I understand that the Minister of Technology in the previous administration indicated to the Board that he would not be prepared to issue a licence under the Nuclear Installations Act, 1965, for a nuclear station on that site. As a result the Board decided to apply for an oil-fired station instead.
