Sick Leave Of Mr Abbott, Of Redlynch, Salisbury MR. JAMES O'CONNOR To ask the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that Mr. R. P. Abbott, of Redlynch, Salisbury, was certified after illness as being fit for duty on 15th December of last year, but was informed that he must not resume duty until instructions had been received from headquarters; that he was again examined on 27th February of this year, and again certified fit for duty, but still was not allowed to resume until 15th March; that, owing to what would appear to be a mistake on the part of the officials, Mr. Abbott exceeded the six months' sick leave allowed by the regulations and was therefore deprived of a portion of his pay; and whether this money will be refunded to him, as he was not sick nor responsible for his absence. (Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) I will inquire into the case of Mr. Abbott, of Redlynch, Salisbury, and will communicate the result to the hon. Member.
