Mr. John Hall asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the results of the experimental operation of minibuses by the Post Office in Montgomeryshire, Devon and Westmorland. Mr. Eldon Griffiths I understand from the Post Office that each of these services roughly breaks even on operating costs. They provide a useful service but only for a very small number of people—only two or three passengers a day each on average and down by one-quarter this year.
