Mr. Chapman
asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the number of acres of land in the United Kingdom currently in the ownership of his Department; and how this figure compares with those for five and 10 years before.

At 1 October 1986 landholdings were 592,168 acres. This compares with 615,374 acres in 1981 and 627,801 acres in 1976.
