Non-Graduate Teachers, Scotland 39. Mr. Stephen asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many meetings have taken place of the National Joint Council representatives of teachers and education authorities; and whether consideration has been given to the need for placing non-graduate teachers on the graduate scale in future after a definite period of service? The Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Wedderburn) I am informed that the National Joint Council have held two meetings, and that they have not, so far, considered the matter to which the hon. Member refers. Mr. Stephen Will the Minister draw the attention of the Council to the importance of this question and the great injustice that these non-graduate teachers are suffering? Mr. Wedderburn I think my right hon. Friend said in reply to a previous question that he is not prepared to instruct the National Joint Council on what matters they should consider, but if the hon. Member wishes, I will undertake to see that this Question and Answer are brought to their notice.
