Elections (Communication Costs)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department in what circumstances communication costs for a blind, visually impaired or deaf person standing in (a) European, (b) parliamentary and (c) local authority elections may be exempted from the limits from the candidate's personal election expenses. There is no statutory provision to exempt such costs at parliamentary or European parliamentary elections. The limit of £600 on a candidate's personal election expenses does not apply at local elections.
