Mr. Harry Barnes To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many amputees had their mobility allowance withdrawn or suspended in the last three years for which figures are available. Mr. Scott I regret that this information is not available. The Department's records do, however, show that of the 611,000 people currently receiving mobility allowance, 8,000 are shown as having amputation of a limb as the main cause of their inability to walk.
