Fishing Industry (Training Board)

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement about his proposal for a training scheme for the fishing industry; and whether this is to be run at local level by port committees.

As the hon. Member will know, we have undertaken a wide-ranging review of the work of the present industrial training boards. Until it has been completed, I would not wish to speculate on what new training arrangements might be made for the fishing industry.
