The House met at Two of the clock.

Several Members took and subscribed the Oath required by Law.

Double Return

Mr. SPEAKER acquainted the House that he had received a Letter from the Eight honourable William Ewart Gladstone, returned as Member for the County of Edinburgh (Midlothian), and also for the Borough of Leith, making his election to serve for the County of Edinburgh (Midlothian), as followeth:—

Aug. 9, '86.

My dear Mr. Speaker,

I take the liberty of apprising you that, having been returned to Parliament for the County of Edinburgh (Midlothian), and also for the Borough of Leith, I elect to serve for the County of Edinburgh, or Midlothian.
