asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Development Commissioners have now come to any decision regarding a grant of money for the purpose of improving the harbour of Burtonport, county Donegal.

The Development Commissioners have not yet reported to the Treasury on that part of the Congested District Board's application that relates to the improvement of harbours. I understand that the whole question of harbour improvement in the congested districts is under consideration, and is forming the subject of correspondence between the Commissioners and the Board.

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to the terms of the resolution sent by the Caherciveen District Council to the Congested Districts Board on 28th March with reference to the provision of a proper boat slip at Caherciveen; and can he state what action has been taken in the matter?

The resolution referred to has been received by the Congested Districts Board, but it has not yet been considered by them.

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what decision, if any, has been arrived at by the Commissioners of National Education in the Ballyranney school case, parish of Annaclone, County Down?

The Commissioners of National Education consider that the existing Annaclone national school cannot be regarded by them as suitable for the wants of the locality in the matter of accommodation, or as sufficiently central, and that a new central school should be built. If the necessary steps are taken by those interested to provide a central school the Commissioners will consider the propriety of granting aid to the Anna-done school (known locally as Ballyranney) as a temporary measure pending the building of the new central school.

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why the number of executions in Northern and Southern Nigeria during the years 1909–10 was so much greater than in any other Crown Colony?

The number of executions in Northern and Southern Nigeria arises from the number of capital offences committed, and is not as great in proportion to population as in several ether Crown Colonies of Protectorates.

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the fact that E. Spelman, of King's Road, Thame, duly made a declaration under the Vaccination Act, 1907, but inadvertently failed to send it to the vaccination officer until one day beyond the seven days allowed by the Act for the transmission of such certificates; and whether, under the circumstances, he will instruct the officer to accept the declaration?

I have caused inquiries to be made into this matter, and learn that Mr. Spelman obtained a certificate of exemption on the 21st November last, but failed to deliver it to the vaccination officer, who lives next door but one to him, till the 30th November, when he sent it by post. I have informed the vaccination officer that in my opinion this is not a case in which proceedings should be taken.
