Retired Civil Servants (Pensions)
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Government or the Treasury have considered or contemplate considering the question of increasing the pensions of retired Civil servants?
The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and the answer to the second part in the negative.
Polygamous Marriages
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has now been able to gain further information concerning the proposals put forward in Germany with official sanction for secondary or bigamous marriages, so designed as to increase the population?
I have nothing to add to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member on December 5th, 1917, except to state that the pamphlet advocating these polygamous marriages was written by a German named Carl Hermann Torges, and published by the firm of Oskar Muller, of Cologne.
Treatment Of Corpses (Germany)
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has now been able to obtain further information concerning the alleged institutions behind the enemy lines for reducing the corpses of killed soldiers to such products as will furnish munitions or animal fodder?
I have nothing to add to the answers given to various hon. Members on 30th April, 1917. I am not aware of any additional information which has been obtained on the subject since that date.
Electric Power Supply
asked the President of the Board of Trade what action he proposes to take on the Report of the Committee on Electric Power Supply?
I am not yet in a position to make any statement on this subject.
