Croydon Air Port (Floodlight)

asked the Secretary of State for Air when the new floodlight, giving a horizontal beam of light, will be installed at the Croydon air port; what will be the candle power of the floodlight so used; and whether this floodlight has been made in the British Empire?

As regards the first part of the question, there is at present at the Croydon air port a floodlight with a horizontal beam, and there is no intention of installing a new one in its place; the remaining parts of the question do not, therefore arise.

Gunfire, Shoeburyness

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware of the damage caused to the premises of Mrs. Bentley, of Seaview House, Great Wakering, Essex, owing to naval gunfire which takes place in the neighbourhood: and what action he proposes to take in the matter?

I am aware that Mrs. Bentley has complained of damage to her property by concussion from gunfire at Shoeburyness, hut I have been unable to accept the suggestion that the damage is attributable to the firing of naval guns, or to authorise any compensation out of naval funds.
