asked the Secretary of State for India whether the supplementary note by Sir A. Selby-Bigge to the interim report of the Simon Commission dealing with the growth of education in India has been published; and, if not, if it can be published?

This note is not among the documents which are being published as supplements to the Statutory Commission's report; but, as stated in their report, copies have already been widely circulated in India. I doubt whether separate publication of the note is necessary. I shall be happy to send the hon. Member a copy.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total Exchequer contribution for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date towards the cost of social services other than War pensions; will he give comparable figures for the previous 12 months; and can he give the cost of such social services per head of the estimated population for both of these periods?

The hon. Member will find figures relating to the total cost of social services in the years 1927 and 1928, and the total Exchequer contributions thereto, in House of Commons papers Nos. 16 of 1928 and 101 of 1929. The estimated population of Great Britain was 44,230,000 on 30th September, 1927, and 44,407,000 on 30th September, 1928.

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury for each of the last five years the gross payment to which Members of the House not in receipt of salaries as Ministers were entitled, the amount of Income Tax deducted, and the net payment?

The gross amounts paid to Members of the House for the last five years are as follow: 1925–6, £227,677; 1926–7, £228,057; 1927–8, £228,057; 1928–9, £227,299; 1929–30, £216,611. With regard to the second and third parts of the question, I would remind my hon. Friend that it is not the practice to make public particulars as to the Income Tax assessments upon particular classes of taxpayers.

asked the Minister of Health whether his Department assists financially voluntary organisations dealing with cases of functional nervous disorder both in children and adults?

asked the Minister of Health the number of houses built by local authorities to let from 1st June, 1929, to the last convenient date this year, and similar information for the preceding 12 months?

The number of houses completed under the various Housing Acts by local authorities in England and Wales between 1st June, 1929, and 31st May, 1930, the latest date to which figures are at present available, was 59,794. The corresponding figure for the preceding 12 months was 55,771. The majority of these were built for letting, but detailed information on that subject is not available.
