Warning Signal, North-East Irish Coast
asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the warning signal on Barr's Point, North-East Irish coast, being a bell that strikes once every 10 seconds, is of very, poor volume; and, since the safe entry of Lame harbour is dependent upon this bearing being accurately fixed, whether he will draw the attention of the appropriate authority to the inadequacy of this signal and urge that ships should have the benefit of a more modern means of signalling?
I am informed by the Commissioners of Irish Lights that they are replacing the existing fog bell by an acetylene fog gun, which they hope will be in operation by September next.

Imported Butter (Marking)
asked the Minister of Agriculture what decisions he has come to in regard to the marking of blended butter where foreign ingredients are used; and whether, in view of public anxiety in this matter, he will insist on the country of origin being indicated in all foreign blends and in all manufactured food in which foreign butter or blends of foreign butter occur?
The question of making an Order in Council to require the marking of all imported butter is being considered by the Departments concerned in the light of the report recently issued by the Standing Committee constituted under the Merchandise Marks Act, 1926.
