China (Fees, British Consular Service)

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total value of the last year for which the information is Fully available of fees of all kinds paid to His Majesty's consuls in China and credited to the revenue account of the British Treasury; and what total sum are such fees estimated to produce for the coming financial year?

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the average value of the purchases per head of the inhabitants of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Union of South Africa combined of the domestic exports from Great Britain and Northern Ireland during the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, and the average purchases per head

at Shanghai and by His Majesty's Consular Service in China during the financial year ended 31st March, 1931, was £63,708. For the current financial year the estimate was £40,000, and the sum of £25,278 was collected in the first half of the year. The estimate of the amount of these fees for the coming financial year is £40,000.

Exports

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total value of exports from Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, respectively, to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the United States of America, Germany, France, and the Argentine; and the purchases per head of population by these countries, respectively, during the same period?

The following table shows the total declared value of the exports (including re-exports) of merchandise from the United Kingdom during the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, registered as consigned to the under-mentioned countries, together with the total amount per head of the average population of these countries during that period.of population of the combined inhabitants of Germany, France, the United States of America, and the Argentine during the same period?

During the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, the aggregate declared value of the domestic exports of merchandise from the United Kingdom consigned to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the Union of South Africa per head of the aggregate population of those countries averaged £5 4s. per annum. The corresponding average in respect of exports to Germany, France, the United States of America and the Argentine Republic was 12s. Prior to 1st April, 1923, the particulars include the exports from ports in Southern Ireland

Unemployment (Exchange Reports)

asked the Minister of Labour whether the reports from the different Employment Exchanges indicate any tendency on the part of applicants for employment to restrict their activities in respect of seeking work to acting on written instructions by such Exchanges to call on potential employers; and how many men have been placed by the Exchanges since the beginning of the year?

India (Pensioned Officers)

asked the Secretary of State for India the number of British officers in each of the all-India services who have retired on proportionate pensions during the last six years?

The numbers are as follow:negative. The number of men placed by the Employment Exchanges since the beginning of the year to the 22nd February was 141,643.

Poland (Labour Conditions)

asked the Minister of Labour if he can furnish any information on the proposed alterations in workmen's holidays and hours in Poland?

I have not yet received authoritative information on this matter, but I am making inquiries.
