Lanarkshire Traction Company
asked the Minister of Transport what action is to be taken by the authorities regarding the refusal of the Lanarkshire Traction Company to observe the regulations regarding stances and routes in Glasgow, as laid down by the Traffic Commissioners and by the Ministry of Transport, seeing that the refusal of the company to conform to the regulations contribute to the congestion and danger in the main thoroughfares in the city?
Under the Road Traffic Act, 1930, it is an offence for the holder of a road service licence to fail to comply with any conditions attached to the licence. Proceedings for such an offence can be instituted by the traffic commissioners, by a chief officer of police, or by a local authority. I am sending a copy of the hon. Member's question and of this reply to the traffic commissioners. In view of their powers in the matter, the hon. Member may wish also to bring the circumstances to the notice of the Chief Constable and the Glasgow Corporation.

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many horses were exported to the Continent from this country for butchery during each of the past six months; from which ports, respectively, they were exported; and at what slaughterhouses, respectively, the same were killed and in what manner?
The following statement shows the number of horses exported to the Continent during the six months ended 31st March, 1932, the number intended for immediate slaughter; the ports whence they were shipped and the ports of destination. No statutory declaration is required as to the purpose for which horses are shipped, and the numbers given as being intended for immediate slaughter are derived from information obtained by the Ministry's inspectors.

Ground Maize Imports, Ireland
asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that ground maize imported from the Irish Free State into Northern Ireland is charged with a duty of 10 per cent., whereas a similar commodity from Britain or Northern Ireland can be imported into the Irish Free State free from such duty; and if he will consider some reciprocal arrangement in this matter?
Ground maize from the Irish Free State would not be liable to duty on importation into Northern Ireland if it satisfied the conditions prescribed in the Import Duties (Imperial Preference) Regulations of 1st March last, and in these circumstances the second part of the question would not appear to arise.
Royal Navy (Widows' Pensions)
asked the Minister of Health whether he will consider the desirability of providing, by regulation or otherwise, that widows of naval men who elect to receive Admiralty pensions instead of State pensions shall be entitled to have returned to them the contributions paid by their deceased husbands under the general Acts relating to widows' pensions?
I propose to discuss with my right hon. Friend the First Lord of the Admiralty the general question of the position in relation to the Contributory Pensions Acts of the widows of naval men who are entitled to Admiralty pensions.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the reason for the increase of £17,630,000 in the Floating Debt on 31st March, 1932, as compared with the debt on 31st March, 1931?
The principal items of expenditure which account for the increase in the Floating Debt are:

| 2. Payments for Victory Bonds, etc., tendered for Death Duties | 7,394,000 |
| 3. Payments to the Depreciation Fund for 5 per cent. War Loan | 1,370,000 |
