Migrants (Re-Entry)

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs the number of persons who have returned from the Dominions to this country, disregarding those who have returned on leave or holiday, during the past year and the corresponding figure for the previous 12 months?

I have been asked to answer. According to the passenger returns, the number of British subjects recorded as arriving from permanent residence in places within the British Empire (outside Europe) to take up permanent residence in the United Kingdom during the 12 months ended August, 1932, was 54,264; the corresponding figure for the 12 months ended August, 1931, was 53,438. For the purpose of these returns, residence for a year or more is regarded as permanent residence.

China (Boxer Indemnity)

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will publish the regulations drawn up by the board of trustees, under the Boxer Indemnity Agreement and approved by the Chinese Government, with particulars as to the actual investments of the funds?

I shall be glad to show my hon. Friend the report published by the Chinese Government Board of Trustees for the year 1931. I am endeavouring to obtain further copies and will place one, if procurable, in the Library of the House. The report referred to contains, in addition to certain regulations issued by the Board of Trustees, particulars of the loans made by the Board.
