Victoria Falls And Transvaal Power Company
asked the Secretary position to report the terms of the con- cession to the Victoria Falls and Trans-vaal Power Company of Northern Rhodesia's rights in the falls?
The question of granting a new concession to the Victoria Falls and Transvaal Power Company is under consideration. At present I am not in a position to make any statement as to terms.
Native Labour (Wages)
asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if regulations exist governing the wages of native labour in the mines and industry of Northern Rhodesia?
By an Ordinance passed in December, 1932, the Governor in Council is empowered to prescribe a minimum wage for any occupation in any district or part of a district in which he is satisfied that the wages are unreasonably low. So far as I am aware, no such minimum wages have been fixed. I may add that comprehensive regulations dealing with the conditions of natives on the mines (which include provision for rations, housing and medical attendance) were made by the Governor in Council on 3rd February, 1931, under the Employment of Natives Ordinance, 1929.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the present cost of settling a qualified applicant on a family farm of 50 acres, a market garden of 10 acres, a pig and poultry farm of 10 acres, a market garden of five acres, and a poultry farm of five acres?
Figures taken from recent completed schemes show that initial capital costs of holdings described in the question are as follow.

| Family farm (average 46 acres) | 2,053 |
| Market garden (average 9 1/3 acres) | 1,313 |
| Pig and poultry (average 9 1/3 acres) | 1,141 |

| Pig and poultry (average five acres) | 796 |
