Trade And Commerce (Russia)

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can now make any further statement with regard to the Anglo-Russian Commercial Treaty discussions; and when it is anticipated that this matter can be debated by Parliament?

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply given to a number of similar questions yesterday. As regards the second part of the question, I cannot at this stage say when the matter can usefully be debated.

India (Army Officers: Extra Regimental Employ)

asked the Secretary of State for India (1) if he is aware that British officers serving in units in process of Indianisation are not being given equal opportunity with others of obtaining extra regimental employ; and will he take steps to ensure that the policy outlined in A.H.Q. letter 0,676,571 (M.S. 3), dated 21st September, 1929, is adhered to as far as possible;(2)If Indians holding the King's Commission have been permitted to- accept civil and political appointments or other extra regimental employ; and if it is the policy to allow them to do so before existing Indianisation schemes are complete?

I am informed that British officers are given the same oppor- tunity as others of obtaining extra regimental employ. Indian officers holding the King's Commission are similarly given equal opportunities; and it is not the policy to place them under any restrictions which would involve discriminating between one class of officer holding the King's Commission and another.

United States (British Debt)

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the policy of His Majesty's Government with regard to the instalment of this country's debt to America which is due for payment on 15th December next?

asked the Minister of Labour the number of persons registered as unemployed on the latest available date in October, 1933, and on the same date in 1932 and 1931 at Castleford and Pontefract, repectively?

The following table gives the information desired.
