Export Trade

asked the President of the Board of Trade the percentage improvement in the export trade of Great Britain and Northern Ireland during 1933 as compared with 1931 and 1932?

The declared value of the exports of United Kingdom produce and manufactures in 1933 was 0.7 per cent. greater than in 1932, and 5.9 per cent. less than in 1931. When the effect of price changes is eliminated, the volume of such exports last year was 2.1 per cent. greater than in 1932, and 2.5 per cent. greater than in 1931.

Tanganyika

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he has any information on the Union of Britain recently formed in Tanganyika to combat Nazi propaganda?

I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend has received from the British Union of Tanganyika a copy of a circular setting forth the aims and objects of the union, and I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy.
