Divisional commandants of the Special Constabulary receive allowances towards their out-of-pocket expenses, varying from about £2 to about £7 a week, according to the size of their divisions and the number of special constables in them. Two officers of higher rank at headquarters receive salaries of approximately £600 and £400 per annum.

I am not in a position to classify, in the manner suggested, the membership of the various Commissions and Committees appointed by the present Government. As the hon. Member was informed on 15th February, 1933, in selecting personnel all relevant considerations, including territorial considerations where appropriate, are borne in mind, the objective in each particular case being the appointment of a Committee composed so as to promise the best possible guidance on the subject referred to the Committee.
