Unemployment
asked the Minister of Labour, whether he will state the number of insured persons, employed and unemployed, separately, that have passed out of insurance upon attaining the age of 65 years, in each of the years 1930 to 1933, inclusive?
I regret that statistics giving the information desired are not available.
asked the Minister of Labour, if he is aware that at the Edgware Road employment exchange members of the public remain on the premises for long periods and after they have completed their business, and that the resultant noise and obstruction impairs the efficiency of the office; and whether he will take steps to put an end to this state of affairs or, alternatively, in the event of it being desired to provide shelter and accommodation for long periods for the unemployed registering at this office, if he will arrange for the provision of such accommodation as will not seriously hinder the staff and detract from the efficiency of their work?
I am not aware of any avoidable difficulty at this Exchange, but if the hon. Member will let me have further particulars, I will gladly make further enquiries.
League Of Nations (Cinema Congress)
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, who will represent the British Government at the International Congress this month on the Teaching and Educational Cinema, arranged by the governing body of the League of Nations' Educational Cinema Institute at Rome?
One of His Majesty's Inspectors of Schools will attend the Congress as a representative of the British Government. The invitation to participate in the Congress has also been communicated to the authorities of the British Film Institute, with a request that it should be brought to the notice of persons or bodies likely to be interested. It is understood that the Institute is making arrangements to take part in the Congress.
