Agricultural Holdings (Output)

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will state for the latest year for which figures are available the annual value of the output from holdings over one acre in England and Wales of wheat, barley, and oats, not including the proportion of the crops retained on farms for seed or feed?

The estimated value of the output from holdings over one acre in England and Wales in the cereal year 1933–4, of wheat, barley, and oats, excluding the proportions retained on farms, was £4,000,000, £3,700,000, and £1,450,000, respectively. Deficiency payments under the Wheat Act, 1932, have been excluded.

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will state for the latest year for which figures are available the annual value of the output from holdings over one acre in England and Wales of poultry and eggs?

The estimated value of the output of poultry and eggs from holdings over one acre in England and Wales in the year ended 31st May, 1934, was £5,770,000 and £15,480,000, respectively.

Iron, Steel And Tinplates

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will state the figures for the iron and steel industry and the tinplate industry, respectively, showing the output and prices per ton for each of the years 1913, 1920, and 1934?

According to statistics published by the British Iron and Steel Federation, the output of pig iron and of steel ingots and castings in the years 1913, 1920, and 1934 was as follows:

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education if it is proposed to introduce legislation to give effect to the recommenda- tions of the Departmental Committee on Private Schools'?

I have nothing to add to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member for the University of Wales (Mr. E. Evans) on the 11th June last.
