Infant Mortality (Aspull)
asked the Minister of Health whether he can state the infant mortality rate for the urban district of Aspull for the years 1935 and 1936?
The infant mortality rate for this district per 1,000 live births was 149 in 1935 and 54 in 1936.
Education (Kindness To Animals)
asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether, in view of the recent aggravated cases of cruelty to animals, etc., by young children, he can state the number of schools in which lectures or lessons are given on the need for the proper treatment of lower forms of creation?
I cannot give a definite answer to the hon. Member's question; but I can assure him that local education authorities and teachers generally are alive to the importance of inculcating kindness to animals, and that, while definite and formal lessons may not be given on the subject, there are few, if any, schools where the matter is not dealt with incidentally as suitable occasions offer.

The following table shows the numbers of payments of insurance benefit and transitional payments or unemployment allowances made direct through the undermentioned Employment Exchanges during one week of each year from 1931 to 1937.

Liquor Licences
asked the Home Secretary whether he will give the names of those licensing districts which, at the recent annual licensing sessions, were granted an extension to 10.30 p.m. on weekdays, specifying which were for the whole year and which for a lesser period; the names of districts in which last year the permitted terminal hour on weekdays was 10.30 p.m. during the summer months but which have this year reverted to 10 p.m. closing; and also a complete list of licensing districts where the justices have extended permitted hours on weekdays to 10.30 p.m. either for the whole year or part of the year?
