Coal Industry (Statistics, Warwickshire)

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he will give, in amplification of the quarterly statistical summary of output, costs of production, proceeds and profits of the coalmining industry for the quarter ended 3oth June, 1939, information under the headings included in that summary in respect of the district of Warwickshire?

As the answer involves a lengthy statistical statement, I will forward the information to my hon. Friend, and put copies in the Library.

British Army (Non- Combatants' Enlistment)

asked the Secretary of State for War whether any opportunities of enlistment in the Army at present exist for volunteers who conscientiously object to performing combatant duties, but are anxious to offer immediate service in a non-combatant capacity?

Yes, Sir. Such men can volunteer to enlist in any non-combatant branch of the Army in which they wish to serve, but their acceptance will depend on the existence of vacancies. If they declare, on enlistment, their conscientious objection to combatant duty, they will not thereafter be transferred to a combatant arm.
