Ministry Of Information

Italy (French Troops; Bbc Reports)

asked the Minister of Information what special steps are being taken by the B.B.C. to bring home to the people in France the gallantry of the French Army in Italy.

Reports about the great gallantry of the French Army in the Allied offensive in Italy have been given a just prominence in all the news bulletins of the B.B.C. French Service. These bulletins have also contained full summaries of the many references and tributes to the French Army which have recently appeared in the Press of Great Britain and of the United States.

Book, "Your Mp"

asked the Minister of Information if, in view of the fact that many British subjects are likely to be overseas in the Armed Forces at the time of the next General Election, he will give an assurance that no obstacle will be placed in the way of sending overseas books such as "Your M.P." containing records of the votes and speeches of Members of Parliament.

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer which I gave to-day to the hon. Member for Wood Green (Mr. Baxter).

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will publish statistics showing the number of households employing more than one servant.

Gas And Electricity Undertakings (Accounts, Publication)

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will remove the ban on the publication of accounts of electricity and gas companies; and if not, what are the reasons for continuing same.

The ban on the publication of the accounts of gas and electricity undertakings was imposed for reasons of security, which I am advised still exist.
