Agriculture, Fisheries And Food

Grey Seals

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will refrain from making an order to suspend the close season for grey seals during their breeding season until the report by the Nature Conservancy as to the effect of these animals on the take of fish has been published.

I do not propose to consider any suspension order affecting grey seals in England and Wales until further advice is available to me from the Nature Conservancy or from elsewhere.
