Day Release Students
asked the Minister of Education if he will state in respect of each local authority area the number of young people between the ages of 15 and 18 engaged in day release education; how many of them are boys and girls, respectively; and if he will state the numbers on each trade course.
The number of day release students under 18 years of age enrolled in major establishments of further education in each of the 146 local education authority areas in England and Wales in the educational year 1959–60 is given in the table below. Analysis by the industry of the employer and by the subject of course is not available for each education authority separately, but some information on a national basis is given in Tables 66 and 62 (C) respectively of the Report of the Ministry of Education for 1959, Cmnd. 1088.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer by how much industrial salaries and wages increased during 1960.
Total salaries and wages are estimated to have increased from £12,640 million in 1959 to £13,570 million in 1960, an increase of nearly 7½ per cent. I regret that more detailed estimates for particular industries or groups of industries are not yet available.
