Council of Europe and Western European Union

My hon. Friends the Members for Morecambe and Lunesdale (Geraldine Smith) and for Finchley and Golders Green (Dr. Vis) have been appointed as full members for the United Kingdom delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Assembly of Western European Union.

My hon. Friends the Members for Erith and Thamesmead (John Austin) and for Portsmouth, North (Syd Rapson) have been appointed substitute representatives of the United Kingdom delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Assembly of Western European Union.

Newly Qualified Drivers

During my opening speech on Second Reading of the Road Safety Bill on 11 January 2005, Official Report, column 223, I said,

"Indeed, one in five accidents involve a driver who has passed their test in the preceding year".

What I should have said was that as many as one in five new drivers has an accident within the first year of passing the driving test.
