Prisoner Segregation And Prison Visitors

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether prisoners who have been segregated for the maintenance of good order and discipline are given the opportunity to meet the member of the Board of Visitors before the latter gives authority for segregation to be extended beyond a period of a month; and if not, why not.

Members of a Board of Visitors are required to hear any complaint or request which a prisoner wishes to make to them. This includes a prisoner removed from association for the maintenance of good order or discipline. I have no doubt that a member of a board who had interviewed a prisoner but who was not considering the renewal of the authority for his removal under Rule 43 would pass on the prisoner's representations to the appropriate member.

Mr Scott Stevens: Academic Studies In Prison

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether Mr. Scott Stevens, a prisoner in H.M. Prison Leyhill, will be permitted to continue his L1.B. studies whilst at Leyhill Prison and whether he will be given all the necessary facilities for this purpose.

Mr. Stevens was transferred to Exeter Prison on 7th February 1981 and will be given all reasonable assistance and facilities to continue his studies.

Charities Act 1960: Reviews Of Local Charities

asked Her Majesty's Government:How many reviews have been started to date by local authorities of local charities as recommended under section 11 of the Charities Act 1960.

Some of the reviews were not completed; but the records do not show how many.House adjourned at sixteen minutes past ten o'clock.
